After heating for 1 h, the oil bath temperature was increased to 130 ¡ãC for 1 h. The reaction mixture was then cooled to 23 ¡ãC and partitioned between ethyl acetate and aqueous hydrochloric acid solution. The organic layer was washed with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution, and the washed solution was dried over sodium sulfate. The dried solution was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated. The residue was purified by flash- column chromatography (dichloromethane, grading to 10percent methanol-dichloromethane). The residue was then dissolved in DMSO (1 mL), and purified by reverse-phase HPLC (40percent acetonitrile- water, grading to 80percent acetonitrile- water, with 0.1percent trifluoroacetic acid in both the acetonitrile and water) to afford 10.
