Color reaction between sucrose octaacetate (over the range 0-350 μg) and anthrone reagent was studied. The temperature of color reaction was controlled at 85-95°, and the reaction time was controlled 10 min. Beer law was obeyed at 620 nm. Accuracy test showed that average value was 6.11% and the standard deviation 0.04%. The results indicated that the method is sensitive, selective, and rapid. It is used to determine sucrose octaacetate in propellant materials with satisfactory result.
