TETRAHYDRO-3-FURAN methanol 65 (0.50 g, 4.9 mmol) was dissolved in dry DCM (30 mL) and triethylamine (1.06 mL, 8.8 mmol, 1.8 equiv) was added to the solution via syringe under N2 with stirring. The solution was cooled to 0 ¡ãC and METLIANESULFONYL chloride 63 (0.68 mL, 8.8 mmol, 1.8 equiv) added dropwise via syringe. The resultant solution was allowed to warm to RT and stirred at RT for 36 h. The solvent was then removed in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in fresh DCM and water (25 mL) added to the solution. The solution was then extracted with DCM. The DCM extracts were washed with brine, and the brine back-extracted with DCM.
