A solution of furo[2,3-c]pyridine-2-carboxylic acid (2 g, 12.26 mmol, 1.00 equiv), EDCI (2.8 g, 14.61 mmol, 1.20 equiv), HOBt (2 g, 14.80 mmol, 1.20 equiv) and DIPEA (4.7 g, 3.00 equiv) in MeOH (100 mL) was stirred for 20 h at rt. The resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum. The residue was purified on a silica gel column eluted with ethyl acetate/petroleum ether (1 : 1 ) to give 1.3 g (60%) of methyl furo[2,3-c]pyndine-2-carboxylate as an off-white solid.
